Cubes, cylinders, one point perspective. I started trying to draw cubes, sketching them over and over to be able to draw them without thinking and to encorporate them into other drawings. Gradually I started adding tone and shadows aswell, then moved onto cylinders and cups doing the same thing to get the hang of it. Then came one point perspective which again I had to repeat multiple times to understand it. Once I got the hang of the basics I could work out how to draw the fence and checker board in the photo above.
Next was three point perspective and still life drawing. Three point was a lot harder to work out and I still am yet to understand it fully. I've done still life studies before but I didn't have the understanding of perspective that I do now, this made it easier to create these still life drawing and they have a lot more accuracy.
Here we had to design a film poster for a movie of our choice. I chose to do either Peter pan or sweepy Todd. I couldn't decide which so I did many thumbnail sketches of different ideas and variations for the film poster. After choosing to do sweeny todd I then narrowed it down to 5 designs to develop further.
Shown above are the 5 refined ideas. I had played around with different colour palates and fonts. I decided that I wanted a simple dark colour palate of mostly black and red because these are bold colours and would do the job of capturing the viewers eye. I didn't want the text to take over from the image in the poster but I also didn't want it to be lost, so I settled on it being roughly the same size so the text and image would balance each other out.
